About the Role
This is a highly hands-on role reporting directly to the CEO, serving as their primary thought partner and right hand. You will own how Workhelix operates by setting the operating rhythm, overseeing Business Operations, and driving high-priority initiatives from start to finish, turning strategy into plans and plans into results.
Responsibilities
- Turn founder intent into results, acting as a trusted sounding board and proxy for the CEO.
- Protect the CEO's focus by managing their attention and preparing them for key meetings and decisions.
- Provide the CEO with a clear picture to act on by gathering and synthesizing metrics, initiative updates, and team input.
- Run the operating rhythm, including leadership meetings, weekly business reviews, and OKR planning cycles.
- Own internal and investor communications, including All Hands meetings, investor updates, and board materials.
- Close the gap between strategy and execution by stepping in as temporary owner of high-priority cross-functional problems.
- Deliver special projects end to end.
Requirements
- 5+ years in a high-agency role (startup operations, management consulting, investment banking, venture capital, or strategy and business operations) with end-to-end ownership of ambiguous, high-stakes work.
- Early-stage startup operating experience is strongly preferred.
- Founder experience is a strong plus.
- A track record of growing your own mandate by defining and solving undefined problems.
- Strong analytical and data fluency, comfortable in spreadsheets, building models, and reasoning from data.
- AI-native, using modern AI tools to move faster and go deeper.
- A track record of collaborating across functions and earning trust without formal authority.
- Energy for building culture through rituals, operating cadence, communication, and follow-through.
- High ownership, sound judgment with sensitive information, and enthusiasm for startup ambiguity and variety.
- Sharp written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior Chief of Staff experience at a venture-backed startup is a plus.
- Experience at a B2B or enterprise software company, ideally in AI, is a plus.
- Exposure to board meetings, fundraising, or investor relations is a plus.
- Technology startup founder experience is a plus.
- Experience with M&A, corporate development, or executive recruiting is a plus.
- Interest in how AI changes the way companies work is a plus.
