About the Role

Atoms is building Physical AI—real-world robots for industries like food, mining, and transport. This role involves building developer experience tooling, APIs, and workflows to empower autonomous systems engineers, and architecting high-throughput GPU clusters for deep learning model training and simulation.

Responsibilities

  • Build robust developer experience tooling, APIs, and workflows that empower autonomous systems engineers to deploy, test, and iterate rapidly on vehicle hardware and simulation environments.
  • Architect and operate high-throughput GPU clusters used for deep learning model training, fleet simulation, and large-scale data ingestion.
  • Design resilient, low-latency networking solutions to manage data communication between autonomous vehicles operating in the field and distributed cloud data centers.
  • Develop scalable telemetry, logging, metrics, and tracing infrastructure to monitor the health, performance, and safety of vehicle fleets and cloud services in real time.
  • Build clean abstractions and proxy interfaces that connect the Transport domain with Atoms’ broader centralized infrastructure stack.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating high-concurrency backend distributed systems in production using languages like Go, C++, Rust, or Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization, and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Practical understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, gRPC, WebSockets, MQTT), load balancing, and edge-to-cloud or data center communications.
  • Experience managing compute orchestration, high-throughput storage pipelines, or GPU workloads for AI/ML training and simulation.
  • Broad system design skills and an infrastructure generalist mindset, comfortable jumping between networking, developer tooling, and compute clusters as priorities evolve.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware is a strong plus.

About the Company

  • Atoms is building the machines that power the next era of progress.
  • Over the last decade, software has transformed the digital world. But the physical world, where food is made, minerals are mined, goods are moved, and industries are run, remains far less intelligent, far less efficient, and far more constrained. We’re changing that.
  • Atoms builds Physical AI— real-world robots for the industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. Our systems are designed to understand, predict, and control the real world with precision, turning complex physical operations into something more reliable, more scalable, and more productive.
  • This work requires more than robotics. It requires deep integration across hardware, software, AI, operations, manufacturing, and real estate. We don’t just build machines in a lab. We deploy them into real environments, operate them, learn from them, and improve them until they work at scale.
  • We are roboticists, engineers, operators, and builders. We believe the next great technology companies will not only transform information, but the physical systems that shape everyday life.
  • If you want to work on hard problems with real-world impact, join us.
