About the Role

We are seeking versatile engineers comfortable contributing across the frontend, backend, and data to build and own web platforms that transform large amounts of data into user-friendly products. Maps and location data are central to our offerings, and we need an engineer who can manage a platform from data model to pixel. In the initial months, you will collaborate closely with the team, gradually assuming ownership of core systems and features. We value team members who demonstrate deep expertise and a high sense of ownership within their domains.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building robust, scalable web platforms end-to-end in TypeScript, including APIs, services, data access layers, and the UI.
  • Making architectural decisions and setting patterns for future development.
  • Architecting durable, long-running workflows and background processes using Restate.
  • Building pipelines to reliably move data between our warehouse, databases, and products at scale.
  • Modeling large datasets for fast querying and visualization, selecting appropriate aggregations, pre-computations, and storage across Postgres and BigQuery.
  • Creating clear, interactive, and beautiful data visualizations, with a focus on data privacy from the initial design.
  • Rendering large amounts of geospatial data on interactive maps, ensuring speed, polish, and insight.
  • Contributing actively to roadmap creation, identifying tradeoffs, and bringing ideas from both product and engineering perspectives.
  • Owning the architecture, performance, monitoring, and reliability of shipped features.
  • Proactively addressing issues within your scope.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional experience building SaaS products or data-heavy platforms.
  • High proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js.
  • High proficiency in modern web frameworks such as React and Next.js.
  • Strong experience with Postgres and data warehouses like BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling for analytics and visualizing large data volumes.
  • A privacy-aware approach to handling sensitive data, including aggregation and anonymization.
  • Comfortable working autonomously across frontend and backend.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration and long-running processes (e.g., Restate, Temporal) is a significant advantage.
  • Expertise in map rendering and geospatial data visualization (e.g., Mapbox GL, MapLibre, deck.gl) is a significant advantage.
  • Experience with WebGL or GPU rendering is a plus.
  • Comfortable working closely with backend and data teams across a polyglot stack is a plus.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure such as Bazel, GCP, or Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Passion and experience building great products.
