About the Role
As Principal Product Manager for Marcura Compliance, you will own the product strategy, roadmap, and commercial outcomes for our compliance portfolio. You will translate regulatory obligations and customer risk appetite into products that maritime, trade, and financial institutions rely on for counterparty decisions. This is a hands-on role focused on problem framing, business case development, solution definition, and accountability through launch and adoption.
Responsibilities
- Own, publish, and defend the multi-year product strategy and roadmap for the Marcura Compliance portfolio.
- Define and continuously prioritize the product backlog across the compliance platform and its customer-facing applications.
- Grow established revenue lines (KYB onboarding, continuous screening/monitoring, due diligence reporting) to meet agreed ARR targets.
- Lead the introduction of new propositions, including the Counterparty Passport directory and embedded compliance.
- Own pricing and packaging for the portfolio to protect margin and simplify the commercial conversation.
- Translate regulatory obligation and customer risk policy into product requirements.
- Act as the senior product voice with enterprise customers, prospects, and partners.
- Define the entity, counterparty, and screening data strategy covering coverage, sourcing, quality, and match accuracy.
- Establish, instrument, and report the portfolio’s success measures.
- Raise the standard of product management across the compliance function by mentoring colleagues and improving practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of total professional experience, including at least 6 years in product management and 3+ years at lead or principal level owning a revenue-bearing product line end to end.
- Substantial experience gained in banking, payments, or financial services, ideally in financial crime compliance or a RegTech serving those institutions.
- Proven track record of taking a compliance, risk, or data product from strategy through discovery and delivery to commercialization, with measurable outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Experience owning pricing and packaging for B2B products.
- Experience with data-intensive products: entity and counterparty master data, third-party data providers, screening and matching engines.
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers’ Compliance, Risk, and Legal functions.
- Experience delivering in an agile, remote-first, geographically distributed engineering environment.
- Maritime, shipping, commodity trading, or trade finance experience is a strong plus.
- Experience with AI or LLM-assisted compliance automation is a plus.
Skills
- Deep working knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC and KYB, sanctions regimes, PEP and adverse media screening.
- Understanding of regulatory and audit drivers shaping customer buying decisions.
- Able to set, evidence, and defend a multi-year product strategy.
- Strong discovery and definition skills: customer research, problem framing, and writing requirements.
- Commercial fluency (unit economics, pricing, margin, business cases).
- Data literacy: comfortable interrogating product, usage, and billing data directly.
- Technical fluency sufficient to hold a credible design conversation with senior engineers.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication.
- Influences without authority across various departments.
- Self-directed, organized, and decisive in ambiguity.
- Working knowledge of agile delivery frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
