About the Role

This hands-on role involves designing, validating, and supporting the electronics for ASRS and AMR products, acting as the senior electronics engineer on the ground in Japan. You will collaborate with international teams and be involved in prototype development, manufacturing support, and field issue resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own PCBAs for robot, elevator, battery exchange cabinet, and Guardian, including schematics, layout review, BOM, and release documents.
  • Assemble, rework, bring up, and validate prototypes in Tokyo, conducting power, ESD/EMC pre-tests, thermal, and functional tests with written reports.
  • Support Japanese manufacturing partners and supply chain through design handover, inspection, test fixtures, first-article checks, and part alternatives.
  • Act as the escalation engineer in Japan for electronics issues at customer sites, analyzing returned boards, leading root-cause analysis, and driving corrective actions.
  • Design, build, and maintain test jigs and fixtures for production and field returns.
  • Contribute to next-generation robot electronics (motor control, power, battery) and review designs for manufacturability and field reliability.
  • Perform electronics and electrical work on AMR, autonomous forklift (AFL), and ASRS elevator, including wiring, harnesses, and power distribution.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience designing electronic hardware that has reached mass production in robotics, automotive, industrial automation, or similar fields.
  • Proficiency in analog, digital, and power design, including DC/DC conversion, battery and charging circuits, BLDC/PMSM motor drive, and protection (ESD, surge, reverse polarity).
  • Experience with microcontroller-based designs and interfaces such as GPIO, PWM, ADC, I2C, SPI, UART, and CAN.
  • Familiarity with schematic and layout tools (KiCad, Altium Designer, or equivalent), oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads, soldering, and rework.
  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • Business-level English proficiency.
