About the Role
As a leading company in software solutions for the healthcare sector, we operate in 19 countries with over 9,000 dedicated employees. Our vision, 'No one should suffer or die simply because medical information is missing at any time or place,' shapes a culture that makes a sustainable contribution to the future of our healthcare system. For our central ERP and process ecosystem based on SAP S/4 HANA, we are seeking an SAP Software Developer (m/f/d) with a focus on S/4 extension development on SAP BTP (ABAP Environment). In this role, you will technically shape our core healthcare processes and ensure we operate a future-proof, 'Clean Core' compliant system.
Responsibilities
- Take technical responsibility for extension developments in S/4 HANA based on SAP BTP (ABAP Environment), ensuring that customizations are consistently implemented in a 'Clean Core' compliant and maintainable manner.
- Develop and maintain Adaption Projects in S/4, including Controller Extensions, UI Adaptations, exit-based extensions (BAdI, Outbound/Inbound Extensions, and Enhancement Includes) to map our business requirements performantly and user-friendly.
- Independently implement OData-V4 services with the ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), including Behavior Definitions/Implementations, Draft Handling, Validations/Determinations, and Action Handling, thereby creating the basis for modern, service-oriented applications.
- Consume and provide OData-V2/V4 APIs (Service Bindings, CAP-compliant service consumption, use of API Hub), integrate S/4 process-reliably with other cloud and on-premise systems, and complete our digital process chain.
- Work closely with Product Owners, module managers (e.g., Finance, Controlling, Procurement, Service), architects, and other development teams to develop technical solution designs, plan implementation projects, and ensure high-quality releases.
- Ensure proficient use of Git in professional development, including branching strategies (e.g., Git Flow / Trunk-based), merge and rebase workflows, conflict resolution, and experience with code reviews.
Requirements
- Solid practical experience with Adaption Projects in S/4 and relevant extension points: Controller Extensions, UI Adaptations, exit-based extensions (BAdI), Outbound/Inbound Extensions, and Enhancement Includes.
- Demonstrable experience in independently developing OData-V4 services with RAP (ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model), including Behavior Definitions/Implementations, Draft Handling, Validations/Determinations, and Action Handling.
- Solid knowledge of the S/4HANA data model and extension architecture (Clean Core), along with a clear understanding of where extensions belong (S/4, BTP, In-App vs. Side-by-Side).
- Experience in consuming and providing OData-V2/V4 APIs (Service Bindings, CAP-compliant service consumption, use of API Hub), as well as proficient handling of API documentation and interface concepts.
- Solid ABAP knowledge, including modern syntax and proficient debugging, complemented by a structured, quality-oriented approach and enjoyment of complex, business-critical systems.
