About the Role
You'll own the data backbone of Interfere, building, storing, and querying systems for all product signals. Your work ensures data accuracy, speed, and affordability at scale, directly impacting the product's intelligence and usefulness. You will collaborate closely with AI/ML and product teams, making key architectural decisions for future growth.
Responsibilities
- Build high-throughput ingestion systems capable of handling billions of product events without data loss or excessive cost.
- Develop real-time stream processing for accurate and low-latency detection and diagnosis.
- Create storage and query systems (e.g., ClickHouse) that maintain performance as customer data scales.
- Implement indexing and retrieval infrastructure for efficient context finding by agents and models.
- Establish schema, taxonomy, and data-quality systems to accommodate evolving event shapes and product surfaces.
- Develop cost, observability, and reliability layers for internal data systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and operating production data infrastructure at scale, managing throughput, cost, and reliability.
- Fluency in distributed-systems tradeoffs (streaming vs. batch, consistency vs. latency, fidelity vs. sampling, storage vs. compute).
- Ability to take ambiguous data or infrastructure problems, define next steps, and ship solutions independently.
- Treat cost as a critical feature of any system.
- Capacity to clearly explain pipeline behavior, failure modes, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to pick up unfamiliar data stores, query engines, or infrastructure patterns quickly and deliver results.
- Experience starting a data system (pipeline, platform, tool) from scratch and ensuring its continued use.
Skills
- High-throughput streaming or stream-processing systems (Kafka, Flink, Kinesis, Materialize)
- Observability, telemetry, or session-replay data systems
- Vector or hybrid retrieval infrastructure for AI/ML use cases
- Full data lifecycle management (ingestion, transformation, storage, query, retention, deletion)
- Go, Rust, Python, TypeScript
