About the Role
Lambda is seeking a Strategic Finance Lead to own the finance perspective in critical decisions regarding site selection, customer deals, and hardware purchases. This role involves partnering with various teams to ensure capital commitments yield optimal returns, and extends to evaluating unit economics and public cloud pricing. The position emphasizes clear communication, systems thinking, and influencing non-finance stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own the finance view of project and deal decisions, ensuring rigor, visibility of returns, risks, and assumptions.
- Create alignment across Datacenter Operations, Supply Chain, Capital Markets, and Sales on assumptions and decision framing.
- Clearly frame trade-offs for decisions on sites, customer opportunities, and financing.
- Design and maintain systems, templates, and review cadences for consistent project evaluation.
- Prepare and present the finance view at deal and investment reviews.
- Take on adjacent problems such as unit economics and public cloud pricing.
- Improve processes using AI tools.
Requirements
- 8+ years in strategic finance, corporate development, investment banking, infrastructure investing, or a similar role.
- Experience within an operating company working with non-finance teams.
- Experience evaluating large, long-lived capital commitments.
- Ability to explain returns and risk to a general audience.
- Comfort working with engineers and operators.
- Ability to listen first and understand the business before modeling.
- Proven ability to build frameworks and processes that are consistent and repeatable.
- Clear writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to hold a point of view with senior leadership and adapt when facts change.
- Comfort with ambiguity and creating structure.
- Clear examples of processes created and improved with AI tools.
