About the Role

As VP of Commercial, you will own the outcome of originating, structuring, and closing multi-year capacity agreements with hyperscalers and AI compute buyers. These agreements are critical for anchoring TAR's buildout and can significantly shape the company's trajectory. You will build the commercial function from the ground up, including the pipeline, deal process, pricing framework, and initial hires, while maintaining single-threaded ownership of all deals.

Responsibilities

  • Own origination with TAR's highest-value counterparties, including hyperscalers, AI labs, and neoclouds, mapping decision-makers across infrastructure, energy procurement, and finance to build a pipeline matched to TAR's capacity roadmap.
  • Lead each deal end to end, from first meeting through term sheet, definitive agreements, and signature, driving against clear milestones.
  • Structure multi-year commitments, including take-or-pay, minimum volumes, exclusivity, pricing and escalators, credit support, and delivery milestones and remedies, that win the deal while protecting TAR's margins and bankability.
  • Build TAR's pricing and deal-economics framework with finance, tying every proposal to project cost, financing requirements, and risk allocation before it reaches a customer.
  • Translate customer requirements such as load, timing, redundancy, and location into commitments development and engineering can deliver, and hold the line on what TAR will and will not promise.
  • Stand up the commercial operating system, including CRM, deal review and approval, contract templates, and forecasting cadence, so leadership always has a clear view of pipeline, probability, and contracted revenue.
  • Hire and lead TAR's first commercial team members, such as deal leads, commercial analysts, and contract managers, and set the standard for how TAR sells.
  • Serve as the accountable executive owner for each customer relationship from signature through ramp, turning first contracts into expansions and repeat capacity.

Requirements

  • 7+ years originating and closing large 8-10 figure contracts with long sales cycles.
  • Deep negotiation and deal-structuring fluency across multi-year commitments, take-or-pay, exclusivity, pricing, and credit terms, with the judgment to know which terms matter most.
  • A track record of building a commercial function from scratch, including designing the process, building the pipeline, and making the first hires.
  • Executive presence and direct communication with C-level buyers, investors, and lenders.
  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, or data centers, such as PPAs, colocation, or capacity leases (Nice to have).
  • Existing relationships with hyperscalers or AI compute buyers (Nice to have).

Experience Level

  • 7+ years

Benefits

  • Up to $15K relocation bonus
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Health, Dental, Vision insurance
  • $1K monthly stipend for meals
