About the Role
You will be the first dedicated internal finance hire, responsible for Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and strategic finance. You will manage the relationship with an external bookkeeping partner, focusing on analysis, planning, and guiding decisions. You will act as a finance advisor to the co-founders, translating data into actionable insights, forecasting departmental performance, shaping service pricing, and optimizing Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC) to support sustainable business growth. This is a builder role where you will establish the finance function, tools, and processes from the ground up.
Responsibilities

- Serve as the primary internal owner of the outsourced bookkeeping partner, ensuring timely month-end closes, clean books, and reliable data.
- Act as the finance advisor to co-founders, proactively identifying financial implications and providing data-backed recommendations on risk, investment, cash flow, and runway.
- Analyze costs across all departments, partnering with operations and department leaders to optimize billable utilization, labor cost allocation, and operational efficiency.
- Review and provide feedback on client contract pricing to ensure competitiveness, value reflection, and support for sustainable growth.
- Conduct deep dives into the financials of best-in-class managed service providers and high-growth services firms to benchmark performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Track, interpret, and optimize key unit economics including CAC efficiency, LTV:CAC ratios, and payback periods.
- Assess the current finance technology stack, recommend improvements, and prioritize tools for software license tracking, SKU management, and invoicing automation.
- Prepare clear, concise monthly performance reports, variance analyses, and strategic materials for leadership and investors.
- Take ownership of monthly client invoicing, implementing tools and workflows to reduce manual effort and errors.
Requirements

- Experience in SaaS or high-growth professional or tech services.
- Ability to build dynamic, clean, forward-looking models from scratch in Excel or modern FP&A tooling.
- Understanding of how operational decisions affect the P&L and margins.
- Ability to translate complex finance into clear recommendations for non-finance leaders.
