Responsibilities
- Build and deliver proprietary engineering capabilities for multi-asset, OCIO, and Charitable asset management portfolio management needs.
- Create the foundation to embed agentic toolsets directly into proprietary portfolio-construction applications to automate portfolio setup, maintenance, monitoring, optimization, implementation, and controls.
- Increase portfolio-manager capacity, accelerate readiness for complex new investment solutions, simplify the application footprint, and reduce manual controls and end-user-developed tools.
- Own architecture, release quality, and production performance.
- Execute the Investment Solutions Group multi-year blueprint, partnering with business capability managers, vendor partners, and architecture teams.
- Deliver business outcomes, sequence reengineering efforts, and resolve cross-functional dependencies.
- Act as the accountable technology executive for platform delivery, resilience, scalability, security, and adoption.
- Translate evolving investment products, client needs, and regulatory requirements into clear technology capabilities and delivery plans.
- Combine investment-domain expertise with direct engineering capability: decompose portfolio-management workflows, design modular services, and implement them end to end.
- Own engineering solutions across the portfolio management, alternatives, and fund of funds investment management lifecycle.
- Integrate research tools into portfolio construction, rebalancing optimization, implementation, and order generation.
- Own the order-management (OMS) capability from portfolio intent through execution handoff.
- Set the target architecture and product roadmap for proprietary and vendor order management systems, consolidating duplicate workflows and defining configurable capabilities.
- Ensure order workflows enforce investment guidelines, cash and position checks, restricted-list controls, approvals, exception management, and complete auditability.
- Oversee reliable integration between portfolio-construction, compliance, order management, execution, position, cash, and post-trade platforms.
- Lead architecture and engineering standards for modular services, application programming interfaces, data integration, and cloud-based solutions.
- Embed disciplined requirements, testing, release management, and production controls to improve delivery quality and reduce operational risk.
- Embed agent-enabled workflows into proprietary portfolio-construction tools to automate setup, model maintenance, monitoring, and rebalancing.
- Lead simplification of legacy technology and reduce duplicate capabilities across proprietary toolsets.
- Manage migration risk through clear transition plans and controls.
- Own the ISG portfolio of technology initiatives, including scope, milestones, business benefits, risks, and resource decisions.
- Track delivery against explicit blueprint outcomes.
- Manage strategic vendors and affiliated service providers, including service expectations, integration quality, commercial performance, and workflow improvement.
- Represent the engineering team in architecture, investment, risk, and governance forums.
- Lead a global organization spanning engineering, federated architecture, analysis, testing, production support, and vendor management.
- Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, constructive challenge, and close partnership with the investment business.
- Develop engineering leaders, strengthen succession plans, and align workforce capacity and skills to the future-state roadmap.
- Create clear decision rights across business capability ownership, technology delivery, enterprise teams, and external partners.
Requirements
- 15 or more years of experience in asset management technology, front-office engineering, portfolio management and trading platforms, investment data, artificial intelligence-enabled engineering or large-scale technology transformation.
- Deep knowledge of institutional portfolio-management workflows across asset allocation, portfolio construction, implementation with experience supporting multi-asset investment teams and fiduciary clients.
- Proven record of leading complex global engineering organizations and delivering multi-year platform modernization with measurable business outcomes, operational resilience and portfolio management adoption.
- Strong solution architecture capability, including design thinking, design-for-failure, application programming interface-first design, event-driven platforms, shared services, cloud-native engineering and resilient data platforms.
- Has rebuilt or consolidated a portfolio-construction or rebalancing platform in production and successfully retired the legacy system.
- Can demonstrate a specific case where multiple stakeholder variants were reduced to a smaller, configurable design.
- Hands-on experience with specification-first delivery, translating requirements into specifications and tests with AI-assisted engineering.
- Practical experience using artificial intelligence to improve investment workflows, engineering productivity, software quality, testing, documentation and delivery effectiveness.
- Experience governing proprietary and vendor platforms, outsourced service models and complex commercial relationships.
