About the Role
Kepler is building the infrastructure layer that wraps around AI models to make their outputs reliable, traceable, and verifiable. We are seeking a senior individual contributor to own how we engage with investment teams, driving relationships from initial contact to successful partnerships. This role requires a deep understanding of the financial industry and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Own how we get in the room with target investment teams, managing relationships from first contact to working partnerships.
- Educate potential clients on Kepler's system, explaining its architecture, benefits, and deployment process.
- Act as a peer to portfolio managers and CIOs, understanding their workflows and needs.
- Drive the development of new relationships at key firms.
- Manage first conversations and discovery sessions with new firms to understand their current workflows and data infrastructure.
- Represent Kepler at conferences and events, including hosting exclusive dinners and roundtables.
- Shape each deal by understanding client needs and tailoring pitches and offers with the CEO and product team.
- Translate buyer feedback into clear input for the product and marketing teams.
- Coordinate inbound requests, live conversations, follow-ups, and deal progression across multiple relationships.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with customers, investors, advisors, and strategic partners.
- Provide market insights on AI adoption, competitor activities, and potential new market segments.
- Learn Kepler's system to effectively communicate its value proposition to CTOs and other technical leaders.
- Take ownership of inbound and live conversations, ensuring clear next steps.
- Map existing networks and identify key conversations for initial outreach.
- Select and manage participation in relevant conferences and events.
- Host targeted events for industry professionals.
- Provide feedback to the product team based on buyer interactions and refine pitches.
- Build and scale relationship management processes, including events, partner channels, and advisor engagement.
- Define the future of Kepler's market-facing functions as the first dedicated market hire.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in hedge funds, private equity firms, or allocator roles, or in a closely related field such as capital introduction, corporate access, research, or advisory.
- A current network within the target firms, with the ability to identify key contacts and reasons for engagement.
- Proven track record of building relationships that have resulted in business outcomes (e.g., capital raised, clients won).
- Ability to conduct initial conversations with PMs, CTOs, or Heads of Data, understand their operational workflows, and define clear next steps.
- Understanding of how investment teams operate and the underlying technology they utilize.
- Capacity to learn Kepler's system and explain it effectively, knowing when to involve engineering resources.
- Skill in managing complex, long-term deals involving multiple stakeholders over several months.
- Natural ability to host events, select appropriate attendees, and create valuable experiences.
- Buyers trust you and are motivated to maintain communication.
- AI fluency is required; experience with tools like Claude for meeting preparation, research, and relationship management is expected.
- Ability to communicate proactively and ensure teammates receive necessary information promptly.
- Resilience and adaptability in dynamic, fast-changing environments.
- Prioritization of relationship-building and customer acquisition over meeting volume.
- Proactive follow-up and timely communication.
- Willingness to provide direct feedback on pitches, targets, and events.
- Judgment, credibility with buyers, technical depth, and drive are prioritized over a rigid adherence to specific résumé criteria.
