About the Role

The Implementation Specialist will manage their own portfolio of journals, ensuring they are run in a 'Production-ready' way and facilitating submit-to-accept workflows and policy compliance. This role also contributes to the Group Publishing Operations (GPO) quality assurance program, aiming for best-in-class quality levels.

Responsibilities

Gather system requirements from publishers, editors, and service providers.
Set up, maintain, and administrate peer review systems.
Conduct presentations and training sessions for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure quality of article-level activities and act as an escalation point for individual journals.
Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders including Publishing, Editorial, Production, Technology & Operations staff, as well as external editors, reviewers, authors, and service providers.
Maintain journal-specific records and documentation.
Collaborate with GPO’s Automation & Analysis team to gather quality-related insights.
Proactively monitor quality across journals and investigate issues.
Collaborate with GPO service providers, other Implementation Specialists, and GPO’s Workflow Solutions and Training Programmes teams to address the root causes of quality issues.
Act as an advocate for continuous improvement, quality, and efficiency.
Foster a culture of openness, transparency, and collaboration within the team and with stakeholders.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate with individuals at all levels and on a global scale.
Excellent numeracy skills with proven attention to detail.
Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
Good problem-solving, logic, and analytical skills.
Proactive and able to lead projects independently as well as part of a group.
Previous experience in a publishing and/or support role (desirable).
Understanding of publishing workflows (desirable).
Business analysis and data analysis experience (desirable).
Formal project management qualification such as PRINCE2 (desirable).
