About the Role
The Hampton Inn & Suites Albany Airport in Latham, NY is looking for detail-oriented and bright individuals who are out-going, customer service focused and have a positive outlook to work in our housekeeping department as a Housekeeper. We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Houseman to join our hospitality team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of guest areas, public spaces, and back-of-house facilities. Your proactive approach will ensure a welcoming environment for guests and staff alike, supporting the smooth operation of our hospitality services. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-standard guest experience through diligent custodial work and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Perform all pre-cleaning duties, including guest supplies, cleaning supplies and linen for housekeeping cart set-up.
- Keep all hallways, public areas and closets clean, neat and vacuumed.
- Report all missing items from rooms (i.e. irons/boards, hairdryers, etc.) to Executive Housekeeper.
- Ensure proper care of housekeeping equipment and facilities and report all maintenance as needed.
- Perform thorough cleaning of guest rooms, hallways, lobbies, and public areas using appropriate cleaning techniques and equipment.
- Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and performing specialized floor care to ensure safety and aesthetic appeal.
- Assist with furniture arrangement, replenishing supplies, and restocking amenities in guest rooms and common areas.
- Support housekeeping management by reporting maintenance issues or safety hazards promptly.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored properly and maintained in good working order.
- Help with industrial cleaning tasks when required, including deep cleans of large areas or specialized facilities.
- Support the team during busy periods by providing janitorial services that uphold high standards of cleanliness and hospitality.
Requirements
- Must be able to perform essential housekeeping functions while meeting Hilton Brand & Matrix hospitality standards.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to push up to 100 pounds.
- Must be capable of utilizing both hands in order to perform such tasks as changing bed linens, scrubbing pots, etc.
- Must be capable of reaching overhead to dust, clean the tops of equipment/appliances, and to place items in cupboards.
- Must be capable of moving light furniture, (i.e. chairs, tables, etc.) in order to clean under these items.
- Must be capable of climbing and descending stairs frequently throughout the shift.
- Must be capable of bending over, stooping, and working on the knees in order to perform such functions as scrubbing commodes, tubs, cleaning tiles, and putting away items.
- Must practice safe use of all cleaning agents.
- Must be able to follow all Matrix & Brand safety practices such as wearing personal protective equipment, reading chemical warning labels, and other safe work practices.
- Must be able to use two-way radios, telephones, general office equipment, industrial washer, dryer, irons, vacuum, floor buffer, wet vac, and other housekeeping equipment.
- Previous hotel experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to relocate to Latham, NY 12110 before starting work.

- Strong knowledge of floor care techniques including stripping, sealing, waxing, and buffing floors
- Familiarity with hotel housekeeping procedures and standards is highly preferred

- Proactive attitude toward maintaining cleanliness and safety standards
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment safely and effectively
- Good physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
