About the Role

This role will play an important part in shaping the next chapter of our combined organization and advancing our shared mission to transform veterinary care. You'll be an HR partner for smaller regions, working directly with regional and practice leaders. The day to day involves employee relations, leaves, and coaching managers. This is a great role for someone with a few years in HR who is ready to own their own book and grow into a full HRBP. You'll need to live near one of our clinics and be in them regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with your regions, acting as the go-to HR person for regional and practice leaders.
  • Handle employee relations, including investigations, documentation, performance plans, and terminations.
  • Manage leaves of absence end to end, including FMLA, state leave, and ADA accommodations.
  • Coach practice managers on giving feedback, having difficult conversations, and managing their teams.
  • Monitor turnover, engagement, and employee relations themes in your regions and provide recommendations.
  • Support new hires and new managers to ensure a smooth onboarding process.
  • Roll out people programs such as review cycles, policy changes, and engagement surveys.
  • Ensure practices comply with state and local employment laws.
  • Spend significant time on-site at clinics to build trust with teams.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an HR generalist or HRBP, preferably in a multi-site business.
  • Experience handling employee relations cases and leaves of absence.
  • Knowledge of FMLA and ADA basics.
  • Ability to remain calm, fair, and exercise good judgment.
  • Skill in building relationships quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple open cases.
  • Must live in the Northeast near one of our clinics.
  • Willingness to travel to clinics across your assigned regions.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP is a plus.
  • Experience in healthcare, veterinary, hospitality, or retail is a plus.
  • Employment is contingent upon satisfactory background investigation.
