About the Role
Join our team as a Backend Engineer, focusing on complex business processes, financial accounting, and payment posting. You will work on a core product at the intersection of technology and financial processes, with opportunities to become a technical single point of contact responsible for architecture and implementation. This role involves translating business and regulatory requirements into scalable backend solutions and optimizing high-performance processes for large data volumes.
Responsibilities
- Deep dive into a core product with a focus on backend and financial accounting, evolving into a technical SPOC with responsibility for architecture and implementation.
- Act as a technical sparring partner to the Product Owner, contributing expertise in payment posting, billing logic, financial accounting, and data models to the product strategy.
- Translate business and regulatory requirements into clean, scalable backend solutions and define clear interfaces for seamless system integration.
- Develop and optimize high-performance batch and real-time processes for handling large data volumes quickly.
- Design and maintain relational data models (Oracle SQL), implement efficient ORM mapping, and perform performance tuning.
- Create billing reports using BI software like Crystal Reports, implement fully automated reporting workflows, and ensure end-to-end quality through automated tests.
- Work agilely within a Scrum team, taking responsibility for planning and delivery, and driving continuous improvements.
- Develop into a mentor and role model within the team, promoting best practices, setting standards for code quality and testing (Cucumber, JUnit5), and constructively questioning existing approaches.
- Apply AI technologies where appropriate to increase productivity and advance the productization of business processes.
Requirements
- Completed degree or equivalent IT education with 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Solid experience in backend development with Java, Spring Boot, Maven, Jenkins, JUnit5, and Cucumber.
- In-depth knowledge of financial accounting and basic knowledge of posting logic, interest, and fee calculation.
- Very good knowledge of relational databases (preferably Oracle SQL Server) and ORM architectures.
- Experience in processing and optimizing mass data.
- Very good German and English language skills for collaboration in an international environment.
