About the Role
Block by Block California employs Ambassadors to make public spaces friendlier, safer, and cleaner. This role is ideal for outgoing and friendly individuals who enjoy working outdoors and meeting new people. It's also a great opportunity for retirees, veterans, and graduating high school seniors seeking their first job.
Responsibilities
- Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
- Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors, maintaining a positive, professional demeanor.
- Observe and report unwanted behaviors or criminal activity to local authorities, articulating accurate descriptions.
- Request compliance from individuals violating low-level quality-of-life offenses.
- Engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting to provide directions and city information.
- Visit zone businesses to share information and gather contact details.
- Complete basic daily reports of tasks, requiring proficiency in English.
Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse continuously during an eight-hour shift.
- Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
