About the Role
We are seeking a Design Team Manager to lead the creation of a design organization for the AI era. This role involves overseeing design for proprietary products, brands, and marketing initiatives across our diverse business units. As a hands-on player-manager, you will leverage AI to enhance production efficiency, ensure design quality and consistency, and drive impact for the team and business.
Responsibilities
- Manage the team, including goal setting, progress tracking, performance evaluation, and growth support (1on1s, development plans).
- Oversee resource management for full-time employees and contractors, prioritize tasks, and participate in recruitment and team building.
- Design and improve production processes and design standards.
- Develop and ensure organizational adoption of design systems.
- Conduct design reviews and manage quality control.
- Drive the evolution of the design organization with AI, integrating generative AI tools into workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
- Establish quality standards for AI-generated outputs.
- Collaborate with management, product managers, and engineers to drive design strategy and execution.
- Ensure quality across diverse areas including internal tool UI/UX, branding, advertisements, landing pages, and creator sites.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of practical experience in web design for websites, landing pages, advertisements, and promotional materials.
- Minimum 3 years of practical experience in UI/UX, including product design and the construction/operation of design systems.
- Experience managing design team members, including goal setting, performance evaluation, resource management, and junior staff development.
- Experience in product development within or in collaboration with development teams.
- Experience in establishing and operating design guidelines and brand operation rules.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate smooth collaboration with managers, engineers, and business stakeholders.
