This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys building new features, improving existing products, and working through complex technical challenges in a collaborative, agile environment. You’ll help develop and run a product relied on by Jira users globally, while contributing to engineering decisions, team practices, and the overall quality of what we ship.

- Work across the full product lifecycle, from investigating customer needs through to building, testing, deploying, and running production services.
- Build new features and enhance existing capabilities in ScriptRunner for Jira Cloud.
- Investigate customer requirements and find creative, practical solutions within the constraints of Atlassian Forge.
- Design systems and services to support new functionality.
- Develop SaaS components and implement business logic.
- Write unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure quality and reliability.
- Create and maintain automated build and deployment pipelines.
- Run, monitor, and debug services in production.
- Set up effective monitoring, alerting, and observability.
- Analyze logs and metrics to understand performance, usage patterns, and support issues.
- Respond to live incidents to help maintain product health.
- Take part in support rotations and future on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- Strong skills in at least one back-end programming language such as Java, Python, or PHP.
- Strong skills in at least one front-end JavaScript/TypeScript framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- Understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant, scalable distributed systems.
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and communication skills.
- Willingness to grow as a full-stack engineer, particularly in Java or React if you’re not already confident in both.
- Experience working with CI/CD.
- Experience building systems with AWS services.
- Understanding of serverless and microservices-oriented architecture.
- Experience developing or consuming extensible REST APIs in Java or JavaScript/TypeScript.
