This global engineering role includes design, implementation, and validation of turbine control features that meet product safety, performance, and grid compliance, offering an opportunity to grow control system skills and drive the energy transition.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance turbine control algorithms to improve performance, reduce mechanical loading, satisfy grid compliance, and maintain high availability.
  • Implement and validate algorithms in the loads simulation environment and on the GE MarkVIe PLC.
  • Investigate and resolve complex fleet controls issues across the installed turbine fleet.
  • Develop and implement corrective actions for controls issues, assessing impact on mechanical loading.
  • Contribute wind turbine controls expertise across the full product lifecycle, from requirements definition to lifecycle support.
  • Support the continuous improvement of controller development and loads simulation infrastructure.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly through analyses, reports, and presentations.
  • Translate complex controls data into clear, actionable guidance for various audiences.

Requirements

  • A degree in Engineering or Science is advantageous, with a focus on total experience and professional achievements.

  • Modern control methods (state-space, optimal control)
  • Model-Based Design of control systems
  • MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent modelling and simulation tools
  • State estimation techniques such as EKF (Extended Kalman Filter)
  • Real-time control systems including the GE MarkVIe platform
  • Coding in at least one programming language such as C
  • Wind turbine product architecture and loads behaviour
  • Grid market dynamics including renewable integration and ancillary services requirements
