About the Role
Onto Innovation is a leader in process control, offering advanced technologies for semiconductor manufacturing. We help customers solve complex yield, performance, quality, and reliability issues by optimizing their critical path of progress.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain efficient, robust software for new and existing metrology systems.
- Translate customer needs into software requirements.
- Maintain and improve the performance of existing software.
- Quickly analyze and resolve issues reported by internal and external customers.
- Recommend improvements to existing software programs as necessary.
- Understand metrology tool platforms and technologies from a systems perspective.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills within a diverse team.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques and applications.
- Experience working with local Large Language Models (LLMs), on-premises AI solutions, or edge AI deployments.
- Strong programming and software engineering skills.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, numerical methods, and analytical problem-solving.
- Experience developing software for scientific, engineering, or data-intensive applications.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment.
- PhD or advanced degree in Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience developing software in C++.
- Experience with numerical analysis, scientific computing, and mathematical modeling.
- Experience developing algorithms for complex engineering or metrology application.
