About the Role
Join Ericsson's Silicon team in Austin, where we develop virtual platforms that enable software development and testing before hardware is available. This is a technical leadership role with several dimensions: setting the technical direction for the platform, managing the Austin team, and acting as an Operative Product Owner (OPO) for SVP.
Responsibilities
- Set the technical direction for the platform: simulator architecture, model accuracy at the software interface, execution speed, and the quality bar for models and releases.
- Lead the development and integration of SystemC and TLM models of hardware components across processor and DSP subsystems, accelerators, interconnect, memory, interfaces, and board components, including externally sourced models and co-simulation with third-party simulators.
- Own how models are proven correct, whether they are used as reference models alongside RTL or as the device under test (DUT) in UVM, and clearly identify any remaining coverage gaps.
- Maintain simulation performance as the platform grows, so CI turnaround time stays short.
- Work with the other SVP Operative Product Owners (OPOs) to manage and prioritize the product backlog, bringing technical judgment to trade-offs between IP verification, ASIC test software, baseband software, and radio software needs.
- Act as the interface between the virtual platform team and its users. Understand how software and IP teams work, translate their needs into platform content and priorities, and represent platform behavior, constraints, and delivery timelines back to them.
- Own the release train, delivery commitments to consuming programs, and supplier model deliveries from requirements through acceptance.
- Work closely with system, SoC, and IP architects to develop models early from their specifications and feed platform findings back into the design process.
- Run one platform with the Sweden group through shared architecture, one release train, and joint priorities.
- Build and sustain networks beyond your own organization, work closely with Swedish teams around this platform, and drive improvements in the product, ways of working, and team competence.
- Manage, recruit, and develop the Austin team, own the hiring bar, and balance support load with platform development work.
Requirements
- Several years of professional software design and development experience, with strong hands-on C++, including object-oriented design and templates.
- Hands-on experience with SystemC, TLM, and software-based modeling, or equivalent depth in a commercial virtual prototyping environment.
- Strong understanding of hardware and software interaction, and of hardware concepts such as processors, DSPs, memories, interfaces and protocols, interrupts, and GPIOs.
- Bit-accurate register-level modeling from hardware specifications, with a clear account of how those models were proven correct.
- Track record of maintaining simulation performance as platforms grow and CI turnaround needs stay short.
- Experience setting technical direction as a lead, architect, or manager, with ownership of a platform or tool that several teams depend on.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the credibility to represent a platform to the organizations that depend on it.
- Ability to understand how consuming software organizations work, translate their needs into platform priorities, and explain platform details back in a way they can act on.
- Comfortable working towards shared goals in a fast-paced environment where information is incomplete, ambiguous, or evolving.
- Knowledge of embedded Linux and experience using Linux as a software development platform.

About the Company
- Ericsson's Silicon team develops virtual platforms that enable software development and testing before hardware is available.
- Virtual prototyping is how software shifts left. Boot and OS bring-up, driver and firmware development, and regression can run against bit-wise accurate silicon models months before first samples.
- SVP models Ericsson hardware so software teams can begin development earlier in the cycle and run regression in Continuous Integration (CI) before and after silicon arrives.
- Our virtual platform team in Austin is part of Silicon Systems within the Product Engineering Unit Silicon.
- The Austin and Sweden engineers operate as one virtual platform team, with shared architecture, priorities, and delivery commitments.
