About the Role
A Merchandising staffer is responsible for ensuring the day-to-day operations and expectations of their zone/department are met. The ideal candidate is positive, contributes to store morale, and understands the unique aspects of Sports Basement. This role demonstrates exceptional customer service and serves as a role model for colleagues, focusing on organizing and creatively displaying products.
Responsibilities
- Identify merch priorities and create a daily plan of action with management.
- Ensure incoming product and projects are merchandised efficiently, effectively, and safely.
- Maintain accurate, enticing, and informative store signage and displays.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to create department/zone displays.
- Implement department goals while maintaining cleanliness, organization, and prioritizing safety.
- Provide outstanding customer service.
- Train staff to create exceptional customer experiences.
- Act as the point person for training zone/department staff.
- Encourage staff participation in events.
- Stay up-to-date with company information and implement department initiatives.
- Track store performance against daily goals.
- Assist in identifying staffing needs, reviewing applications, and conducting interviews with a focus on diversity and inclusion.
- Complete daily operations in the assigned zone/department.
- Actively seek improvement opportunities for the assigned zone/department.
- Prioritize daily workload effectively.
- Delegate tasks and provide clear instructions to store staff.
- Contribute to a positive and fun vibe that elevates the customer and staff experience.
Requirements
- Previous retail, merchandising, or industry experience.
- Ability to create a WOW experience for every customer.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with customers and staff.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily roles.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, bend down repeatedly, and stand for the majority of a shift.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Time management skills.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Awareness of pertinent business tools (Google Docs, Shopify, POS systems, Winterstieger, Sales Saver, Lightspeed, Fiori) - training available.
- Availability to work during operating hours, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas).
