About the Role

This cross-functional role sits within Sixth Street’s Core Engineering team, closely aligned to data and developer platforms with a horizontal view across all engineering teams. The position focuses on ensuring adherence to best practices, identifying common patterns, and factoring shared solutions into central platform capabilities. Responsibilities

  • Partner with development teams on complex architectural decisions, providing practical feedback.
  • Collaborate with Platform and Security teams to shape and drive adoption of “Golden Paths”.
  • Serve as a technical bridge between product teams and Platform Engineering, translating friction into requirements for shared capabilities.
  • Mentor and influence development teams on architectural principles, design patterns, and technical trade-offs.
  • Conduct hands-on technical due diligence on significant projects and architectural decisions.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide guidance.
  • Engage directly in design reviews, prototyping, and critical investigations.
  • Balance long-term engineering quality with pragmatic business outcomes.
  • Identify recurring architectural problems and patterns across teams.
  • Work with Platform Engineering to determine shared capabilities versus team-specific solutions.
  • Stay current on relevant technologies and industry practices.
  • Evaluate new tools or approaches for strategic alignment and value.
  • Collaborate across engineering, data, analytics, and infrastructure teams.
  • Understand business requirements and translate them into architectural guidance.
  • Champion developer experience and code quality.
  • Help teams build reliable, testable, and maintainable systems.

Requirements

  • 15+ years’ experience in professional software development.
  • Excellent programming skills in more than one major programming language.
  • Python/Java experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience working with relational and “NoSQL” data stores.
  • Comfortable working in a Unix shell.
  • Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail.
