About the Role
Join Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned biomedical research institution, as a full-time Groundskeeper. This hands-on role supports campus upkeep and beautification, ideal for those passionate about landscaping and horticulture in a collaborative outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
- Mows, weeds, edges, and maintains lawns.
- Trims, transplants, and maintains shrubs, hedges, and trees.
- Removes snow and ice from roads and walkways.
- Excavates and fills trenches, pits, and wells under supervision.
- Operates mowers, trimmers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, and chainsaws.
- Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, and forklifts.
- Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under direction.
- Plants trees, garden beds, and shrubbery under direction.
- Performs other general labor tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of horticulture preferred.
- Two years groundskeeping experience preferred.
Skills
- Ability to operate equipment generally used in grounds maintenance.
- Some knowledge of landscaping techniques.
