About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer (Backend), you will be a core owner of the Python services that power Paradino's advice platform. This hands-on role involves shaping technical architecture and product, ensuring the platform is fast, reliable, secure, and scalable. You will join an engineering environment where AI is integrated into the daily development workflow.
Responsibilities
- Be a core owner of the Python services that power Paradino's advice platform.
- Shape the technical architecture and product in collaboration with the founding team.
- Make the platform fast, reliable, secure, and scalable.
- Establish backend patterns and standards for the team.
- Own problems end-to-end, rather than just picking up tickets.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, including shipping and operating production systems for paying customers.
- Deep Python expertise.
- Experience with modern web frameworks such as FastAPI, Pydantic, async programming.
- Experience with relational databases including PostgreSQL.
- Strong experience in API design, data modelling, and third-party integrations.
- Experience with REST APIs, webhooks, and OAuth.
- Experience working in cloud environments (GCP).
- Experience with containers, queues, background jobs, and observability tooling.
- A security-first mindset, particularly when working with sensitive customer data, access controls, and auditability.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
- Familiarity with LLM APIs and patterns such as structured outputs and tool calling.
- Sufficient TypeScript experience to confidently read and modify the frontend.
- Comfortable making decisions, adapting to evolving priorities, and taking responsibility for built features through to production.
