About the Role
Pocket is building a category-defining platform for ambient intelligence. We need an engineer who can work across backend and frontend to ship the highest-leverage product and growth improvements.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end projects: instrumentation, backend services, web/app UI, rollout & iteration.
- Build and iterate on user-facing product features (activation, retention, paid conversion, core UX).
- Design, implement, and scale backend systems: APIs, data models, pipelines, jobs, reliability.
- Improve frontend surfaces where it matters (web product, internal tools, landing pages, onboarding flows).
- Drive experiments: set hypotheses, ship fast, measure results, and harden what works.
- Work closely with design, product, marketing, and support, and help unblock them with code.
Requirements
- Strong backend fundamentals (APIs, DBs, async jobs, caching, performance, reliability).
- Comfortably ship frontend changes (React/TypeScript or similar).
- Deep care for product outcomes and ability to translate ambiguity into shipped work.
- Preference for shipping and learning over long debates; ability to move quickly without breaking things.
- 6–10+ years of experience shipping production software (startup pace preferred).
- Experience running experiments / analytics instrumentation (events, funnels, cohorts) is a plus.
- Experience building internal tools that make teams faster is a plus.
- Startup / zero-to-one experience is a plus.
