About the Role

As Director, you will lead the Forward Deployed team on one or more programs, owning its technical outcomes. The team is early and scope is rapidly growing, with Directors helping to scale the Forward Deployed team and spearhead multi-billion-dollar programs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical roadmap and delivery, taking programs from initial conversation to production.
  • Decide which aspects Opus covers, what gets built, and what is declined, maintaining a high execution bar.
  • Ensure program success through effective software and systems, owning hit rate, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Share program learnings with platform teams to enhance Hadrian’s product for all customers.
  • Decide which Forward Deployed products should be integrated into Opus.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for customer program leadership, government stakeholders, and prime partners.
  • Manage technical reviews and conduct difficult conversations regarding scope and schedule.
  • Make critical decisions when scope, schedule, and platform leverage are in conflict.
  • Hire and develop engineers, product managers, and designers for the program team.
  • Set the team's working standards and guide them through complex scoping challenges.
  • Stay hands-on, potentially building v0 of a program or closely reviewing team shipments to ensure quality.

Requirements

  • Highly commercial technical leaders with excellent product judgment.
  • Demonstrated history of leading engineering and product teams and scaling products from zero to one.
  • Strong executive presence with experience managing senior customer relationships and making impactful company commitments.
  • Possess strong product taste, understanding what is valuable to build and what constitutes good user experience.
  • Shipped end-to-end products multiple times.
  • Hands-on technical capabilities, comfortable with architecture, review, and taking ideas from design to delivery.
  • AI-native and relentless in its application, demonstrating how AI accelerates discovery and execution.
  • Experience rebuilding team workflows around AI.
  • Proven ability to hire builders into ambiguous roles and onboard them quickly.
  • Driven by the mission of rebuilding the industrial base and delivering at a rapid pace.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible for necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations due to ITAR requirements.
