About the Role
Clintar is hiring Salt Truck Drivers for the Winter Season to join our ice and snow team focused on efficient clearing and de-icing. All roles are on-call, often overnight, and contingent on winter conditions. Candidates must be available on short notice, round the clock. We service commercial, industrial, and institutional properties. There is an opportunity for permanent hire for suitable candidates at the end of the Winter Season.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency calls for applying salt, especially during heavy snowfalls or severe weather conditions
- Safe operation of salt truck on parking lots and paved areas
- Maintaining clean sites, ensuring no property damage during snow removal
- Follow site maps, route books, and site-specific instructions using the LMN system
- Communicate with supervisors and dispatch regarding site conditions, work progress, delays, equipment issues, and incidents
- Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, property damage, and safety concerns promptly to your Winter Supervisor
- Accurately submit daily timesheets through the mobile application
- Work in challenging weather conditions, including cold temperatures, snowstorms, and potentially at night, to ensure timely snow removal.
Requirements
- Must be on call and available 24 hours a day 7 days a week, including Christmas & Holidays
- Previous experience with salt truck preferred
- Understand basic salter operation
- Must have a reliable smartphone with an active data plan to access LMN
- Must demonstrate good judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to safe equipment operation and excellent customer service
- Must follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements
- Must report to work alert, fit for duty, and free from impairment that could affect the safe operation of equipment
- Must possess a valid Ontario Class G driver's licence with a good driving record when operating vehicles
