About the Role
The Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) sits at the sharpest edge of building an unmetered intelligence workforce of autonomous AI agents. Your work directly shapes how enterprises adopt agentic AI, with a short line between what you build and the outcomes it creates. You will embed with customers to make AI outcomes real within their systems, security constraints, and data.
Responsibilities
- Land the deployment by embedding with enterprise customers, learning their operations and data, and standing up production agent workflows within weeks.
- Build custom solutions by integrating the platform with customer systems (data sources, identity, ticketing, CRMs, internal APIs) and developing bespoke automations, prompts, tools, and guardrails.
- Act as the technical face of NinjaTech, running working sessions with customer stakeholders from frontline operators to C-suite executives.
- Drive adoption and expansion by instrumenting usage, identifying new high-value workflows, and transforming initial deployments into organization-wide rollouts.
- Own the technical aspects of security reviews, isolated-VM/data-residency requirements, SSO/SCIM, SOC 2 / DPA questionnaires, and technical due diligence.
- Provide feedback to Product by identifying field issues and contributing to reusable components to accelerate future deployments.
Requirements
- Engineering background with proficiency in Python and at least one of TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or Go.
- Comfort across data plumbing, APIs, and basic front-end development for demos.
- Genuine curiosity about agentic AI and LLM systems, including prompt/tool design, evals, orchestration, guardrails, and agent failure modes.
- Ability to wrangle messy, large-scale, real-world data and understand storage, pipelines, and cloud infrastructure.
- Executive presence and operator empathy, capable of credible technical conversations with CTOs and understanding frontline user workflows.
- A bias to ship, characterized by speed, precision, user iteration, and adaptability to evolving objectives.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer sites.
- Willingness to be onsite in Austin, TX.
