About the Role
Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem by replacing legacy infrastructure with a cloud-native clearing and custody system. The Production Engineering team operates Clear Street's trading systems, which handle billions in daily trading volume across various asset classes.
Responsibilities
- Own the daily operation of production trading systems, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, and troubleshooting.
- Build and extend the monitoring and alerting stack (Grafana, Wireshork) and deployment and testing tooling (Ansible, pytest).
- Optimize system performance at the software and hardware level, including latency, throughput, and jitter.
- Interface with external venue and counterparty systems to identify failure patterns and propose upgrades.
- Make real-time decisions regarding risk and reward that affect live trading and guide non-technical users.
Requirements
- 1–3 years of professional experience in production engineering, site reliability engineering, systems administration, or a related field.
- Linux proficiency, including file and process management, system troubleshooting, debugging, configuration, and networking.
- Strong command of Python for backend development.
- Understanding of GitOps principles and treating infrastructure as code.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
