About the Role

Code and Theory’s Business Development team finds, shapes, and wins the agency’s next clients by running pursuits from the first signal to the signed SOW. This role involves working with strategy, creative, technology, and senior leadership to build pitches that showcase the agency's capabilities. We are hiring at several levels, from Associate Manager to Director, with core responsibilities remaining consistent while ownership and leadership scope vary.

Responsibilities

  • Run pursuits end to end, from identification and qualification through go/no-go, RFP response, pitch, and close.
  • Lead the pitch team by bringing together strategy, creative, design, and technology, setting the workback, running check-ins, and ensuring alignment on win themes.
  • Own the creation of proposals, RFP responses, credentials, case studies, and pitch decks, maintaining high quality.
  • Build relationships and earn the trust of prospects, consultants, and partners before, during, and after a pitch.
  • Track opportunities, update the CRM, and report on pipeline health, win rates, and learnings from pursuits.
  • Monitor industry shifts, competitor moves, and emerging technology to identify new opportunities.
  • Improve team processes, including templates, tools, and AI-assisted workflows, to expedite pursuits.

Requirements

  • Agency experience in business development, new business, or client services at an integrated, digital, or technology-first agency (2+ years for Associate Manager, scaling to 8+ years for Director).
  • Clear understanding of how RFPs, pitches, and proposals are developed and what is required to win them.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to write RFP answers, leadership recaps, and pitch narratives.
  • Ability to direct cross-functional teams, including more senior individuals, without formal authority.
  • Director candidates must have experience managing people.
  • Independent judgment and ownership of pursuits, with the ability to escalate when necessary.
  • Experience with CRM and project management tools (e.g., HubSpot, Airtable).
  • Comfort using AI tools in daily work.
  • Ability to translate pipeline data into clear reports.
  • Adaptability to a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
