About the Role

In this role, you will take central responsibility for employer-side works council relations in Germany. You will work directly with our CHRO / Group Director HR, shape negotiations with the general works council and local works councils, and contribute your perspective to important corporate and HR projects. You will create structures, develop viable agreements, and ensure that co-determination and corporate development align well.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically develop employer-side works council relations, set clear priorities, and create structures for efficient and professional collaboration with employee representatives.
  • Advise the executive board and HR on complex labor law issues, evaluate options, and find legally sound and practical solutions.
  • Manage collaboration with the general works council and local works councils, prepare and conduct negotiations independently, and involve internal subject matter experts.
  • Design and negotiate framework works agreements, and develop suitable regulations for the organization with stakeholders.
  • Identify where co-determination is required in organizational development, new HR processes, or IT system implementations, and align labor law requirements with company goals.
  • Develop processes for works council relations, ensure transparency in responsibilities, and systematically track negotiations, agreements, and open items.
  • Simplify processes, reduce risks, and strategically engage external labor law expertise where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Completed studies in law, business law, business administration, or human resource management, or a comparable qualification with sound relevant expertise.
  • Several years of experience in labor law, works constitution law, or labor relations.
  • In-depth knowledge of German labor and works constitution law, with the ability to explain complex issues and translate them into concrete solutions.
  • Experience working with works councils, including ideally conducting negotiations and designing works agreements.
  • Entrepreneurial thinking, ability to recognize interrelationships, and find solutions that meaningfully combine legal requirements and business interests.
  • Clear communication skills, ability to listen to different perspectives, and persuade in challenging discussions.
  • Ability to represent positions with conviction and good judgment, constructively handle conflicts, and keep the common goal in mind amidst differing interests.
  • Independent, structured, and solution-oriented work style with a desire to take responsibility and drive initiatives forward.
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
