About the Role
Alloy River acquires accounting firms and runs them on our platform. This role runs month-end close for clients, works alongside them through deployment, and brings the accounting judgment that shapes what we build next. You'll close the books, map how each client's business actually runs, and help decide which features we build to make our work better and faster each month. For the right person, it is a rare path from running the close to shaping the software that automates it. We’ll help you build strong AI and product fluency along the way.
Responsibilities
- Run month-end close for clients, some on our platform and some on legacy ledgers.
- Work with clients to map their processes and systems.
- Turn what you learn into clear, repeatable SOPs.
- Influence the product roadmap and what features we build.
- Maintain our platform dashboards and find where gross margin can be unlocked.
- Perform variance analysis and explain what the numbers are saying.
- Handle ad hoc requests from clients.
Requirements
- CPA designation.
- 4+ years of accounting experience.
- Hands-on experience running month-end close and variance analysis.
- Experience mapping financial processes and systems, such as SOPs, process maps, close checklists, or systems inventories.
- Strong relationship skills. You'll lead conversations with clients and firm owners.
- A real drive to improve processes, not just run them.
- High work ethic.
- Experience implementing or migrating accounting systems.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or Xero.

About the Company
- Alloy River builds agentic applied AI for finance and accounting.
- Accounting today is fragmented, manual, and reactive. We believe it should be intelligent, structured, and operationally decisive.
- Our mission is to transform finance from a slow, labor-intensive, reporting function into a real-time, strategic engine for profit and control.
- We re-architected the general ledger from first principles, and layered automation, workflow orchestration, and applied AI directly into its core.
- Instead of accountants moving data between tools and managing checklists, our system produces outcomes, surfaces exceptions, and compounds leverage over time.
- This is not incremental improvement. It is a ground-up redesign of financial infrastructure for an AI-native world.
- We raised over $30m to date from Portage Ventures, Electric Capital, Elad Gil, and angels like Tobi Lütke, Balaji Srinivasan, and many more.
- We’re scaling what we do with the best builders, operators, and craftspeople in the world.
Equal Opportunity
- We may use AI to help review candidate applications, but the final decision is always made by a human.
