About the Role
Seeking a dependable, personable Dining Room Supervisor / Host to oversee evening service in our Independent Living dining room. This hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, leading a team, and creating a welcoming dining experience for residents and their guests.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support waitstaff to ensure attentive, courteous, and efficient service.
- Greet residents and guests, coordinate seating, and manage the flow of the dining room.
- Prepare staff schedules, assign service sections, and coordinate coverage.
- Conduct brief pre-service meetings to review menus, assignments, and service expectations.
- Maintain standards for table settings, dining room appearance, cleanliness, and staff professionalism.
- Work closely with the culinary team to ensure timely meal service and accurate orders.
- Communicate resident preferences, special requests, and dietary needs to the appropriate staff.
- Address resident concerns promptly and respectfully, referring unresolved issues to management.
- Train and coach staff on service standards and resident hospitality.
- Assist with serving, clearing, and resetting tables as needed.
- Oversee opening and closing duties and ensure the dining room is ready for the next service.
- Report staffing needs, maintenance concerns, and service issues to management.
Requirements
- Previous restaurant, hospitality, or senior living dining experience preferred.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
- Ability to lead by example and remain calm during busy meal periods.
- A patient, respectful approach and a genuine enjoyment of working with older adults.
- Ability to be on your feet and assist with routine dining room duties throughout the shift.
- Reliable availability for the stated schedule.
