  • Build effective relationships across all levels of seniority within the external ecosystem.
  • Grow UCLP’s reputation as a tech transfer and venture building leader and strengthen collaboration across NHS, academic, industry, investor, and funding communities.
  • Maintain awareness of the TT&VB strategy, supporting its communication and rollout, and contributing to its development.
  • Lead the development and integration of the TT&VB operating model across one or more Trusts, maintaining consistency with core principles.
  • Contribute to setting objectives and KPIs for the capability within the remit, supporting the overarching TT&VB strategy.
  • Ensure KPIs are consistently met or exceeded on time, within budget, and with measurable value and impact.
  • Model excellence in execution, evidenced through strong stakeholder feedback and tangible results.

  • Enable accurate and timely reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, Board, partners, Trust leadership, and investors/funders.
  • Work closely with other UCLPartners teams to align priorities, share capability, and provide a consistent end-to-end offer.
  • Exercise sound judgement, professional maturity, and emotional intelligence in complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Deliver, support, and lead impactful technology transfer and venture-building strategies for a portfolio of NHS-originated innovations.
  • Contribute to the definition of clear portfolio entry, stage-gate, investment, and exit criteria.
  • Deliver commercial, market, and competitive assessments to determine the optimal route to impact.
  • Develop intellectual property strategy, overseeing protection, freedom-to-operate analysis, and risk management.
  • Support and lead the development, structuring, and negotiation of commercial agreements.
  • Deliver and lead venture-creation activities, including developing propositions, business models, and financing strategies.
  • Work with teams to identify promising innovations early, shape evidence and development plans, and resolve barriers to commercial progression.
  • Develop trusted relationships with industry partners, entrepreneurs, investors, funders, and professional advisers.
  • Ensure commercialisation is responsible, transparent, and aligned with patient benefit and NHS obligations.
  • Deliver and report measurable portfolio outcomes, including deals completed, revenue, investment secured, ventures formed, and patient or system impact.
