About the Role

We are seeking a Community Manager to own and grow our community across Discord, Reddit, our native platform, and social media comment sections. This role involves moderating conversations, running engagement programs, and translating community feedback into actionable insights. You will collaborate with Product, Marketing, and Support to develop a community strategy focused on engagement and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day community management across Discord, Reddit, and our native community platform, including moderating discussions, answering questions, and maintaining brand tone.
  • Manage social media comment sections by responding to inquiries, moderating content, and routing support issues.
  • Develop and maintain community guidelines, moderation policies, and escalation paths for all community and social channels.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteer moderators and community ambassadors.
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, and Support to relay community and social feedback for roadmap and messaging decisions.
  • Design and execute engagement programs such as AMAs, events, contests, and challenges to increase participation and retention.
  • Track and report on community health metrics, including active members, retention, sentiment, and response times.
  • Draft and distribute community communications, including announcements, changelogs, and FAQs.
  • Identify, nurture, and recognize community champions and superusers.
  • Monitor community platforms and social comments for emerging issues, bugs, or reputational risks, and escalate as needed.
  • Contribute to the overall community strategy, including setting goals and priorities for growth and retention.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing online communities (Discord, Reddit, forums, social media, or similar) at scale.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a strong sense of tone and voice.
  • Hands-on experience with Discord moderation/bots and Reddit moderation tools.
  • Comfortable working with engagement and retention metrics and translating data into action.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, de-escalate conflict, and enforce guidelines fairly and consistently.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently across time zones and asynchronously.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for community-building and the company's product.
  • Familiarity with community platforms beyond Discord/Reddit (e.g., Circle, Discourse, Facebook Groups, custom native app).
  • Experience with social media management or social listening tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Brandwatch).
  • Light content creation skills (graphics, video, memes) for community engagement.
  • Experience mentoring or managing a volunteer moderator team.
