About the Role
Lumi Care supports children and adolescents in participating in school life and becoming increasingly independent. We are looking for a reliable school companion for a primary school student in Berlin-Lichtenberg who will approach him with patience, appreciation, and clarity. A male contact person is preferred for individual matching, who can provide orientation, listen attentively, and build a trusting relationship with the boy.
Responsibilities
- Accompany the boy individually in everyday school life, providing security and orientation.
- Build a trusting relationship, approaching him attentively, respectfully, and at eye level.
- Support him in accepting rules and structures and finding his way in school life.
- Help him cope with challenges, frustration, and conflicts.
- Remain calm in tense situations, act de-escalating, and set clear boundaries with appreciation.
- Strengthen his self-confidence, recognize small progress, and promote his independence.
- Utilize his interests and strengths to find a positive connection with him.
- Coordinate with teachers, legal guardians, and the responsible coordinator at Lumi Care, and document relevant observations.
Requirements
- Experience in dealing with children with ADHD and understanding their individual needs.
- An empathetic, patient, and appreciative attitude towards children.
- The ability to convey clear rules and boundaries without exerting pressure.
- Calmness, composure, and personal stability, even in challenging situations.
- Willingness to truly listen to the boy and discuss conflicts with him at eye level.
- A good sense for relationship building, individual strengths, and small developmental steps.
- Reliability and willingness to collaborate and reflect.
- A male contact person is preferred for this role due to the individual needs of the primary school student.
- Experience in school support or pedagogical work with children with ADHD is particularly welcome.
- Cross-entry candidates with relevant experience and the appropriate personal suitability are also welcome.
