About the Role

Starbucks is seeking a Technical Product Manager to bridge business stakeholders and their AI engineering team. This role involves translating sourcing and procurement workflows into clear, actionable product specifications for an AI team. The ideal candidate is comfortable with stakeholder reviews, data schema discussions, and sprint retrospectives, possessing domain depth in sourcing and procurement, and technical fluency to partner with engineers on LLM-powered systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the functional design specifications and product backlog for the AI-enabled sourcing platform.
  • Translate sourcing and procurement workflows into engineer-ready product requirements.
  • Define and prioritize AI-enabled features, balancing business value, data readiness, and technical feasibility.
  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to resolve data, integration, and policy questions.
  • Drive functional spec sign-off for each module.
  • Write user stories and acceptance criteria, keeping the sprint backlog current.
  • Facilitate structured sign-off gates for each module's progression.
  • Drive AI governance checkpoints in partnership with Security, Architecture, and Legal.
  • Partner with procurement, supply chain, finance, and legal stakeholders to gather requirements and resolve questions.
  • Represent the team in leadership demos and status reviews.
  • Own the phased delivery plan across releases.
  • Coordinate data readiness with business partners.
  • Run agile ceremonies, managing the cross-module sprint backlog.
  • Participate in UAT and AI output reviews.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to write crisp product requirements, functional design docs, and user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Experience running agile ceremonies: sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and stakeholder demos.
  • Skilled at prioritization under ambiguity.
  • Ability to decompose complex workflows into phased delivery plans.
  • Familiar with MVP scoping and iterative rollout.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to read and reason about API contracts, data schemas, and system diagrams.
  • Working knowledge of AI/ML product capabilities and limitations.
  • Comfortable working in Jira, Linear, or equivalent for backlog management.
  • Familiar with Git-based doc workflows.
  • Can interpret dashboards and basic data queries.
  • Hands-on experience in or building products for Source-to-Contract (S2C) or Procure-to-Pay (P2P) workflows.
  • Familiarity with enterprise procurement platforms (Coupa, SAP Ariba, Oracle, Jaggaer, or similar).
  • Understanding of sourcing calendars, commodity price benchmarking, supplier performance management, or contract analytics is a meaningful advantage.
  • Knowledge of compliance and auditability requirements common in enterprise procurement.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Experience partnering with data, finance, and legal as internal customers or reviewers.
  • Comfortable presenting to both technical teams and non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–6 years of product management or product analyst experience.
  • At least 1–2 years in a technically complex or AI-adjacent product environment.
