About the Role
As our Mechanic All Rounder, you will keep the Captain Cook Cruises fleet safe, reliable, and ready to sail. This role is for a mechanic who loves variety and is trusted to manage their own work, from planned services to urgent repairs, with the support of a dedicated maintenance team.
Responsibilities
- Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining marine diesel engines, generators, pumps, hydraulics, and other vessel machinery.
- Performing planned and preventative maintenance to ensure vessels are safe, compliant, and on schedule.
- Responding promptly to breakdowns and defects, working independently to return vessels to service.
- Planning and prioritizing workload, balancing urgent repairs with scheduled maintenance.
- Accurately recording work orders, defects, parts, and labor in MEX.
- Managing parts and workshop inventory, and identifying items needing reordering.
- Collaborating with vessel crews and the marine team to address issues and maintain operational schedules.
- Maintaining a safe, tidy, and organized workshop and work areas.
- Adhering to safe work practices and reporting hazards, incidents, and near-misses.
- Identifying opportunities for reliability improvements and maintaining company vessels with care.
Requirements
- Experienced and qualified mechanic with a problem-solving mindset and ownership of tasks.
- Ability to diagnose issues, seek backup when needed, and complete work thoroughly.
- Proficiency in keeping tidy records and clear communication.
- Comfortable with both planned servicing and urgent breakdown response.
- Marine diesel or Scania experience is advantageous.
- Diesel or heavy vehicle mechanics looking to transition to marine environments are encouraged to apply.
