About the Role
Join RSM UK's Global VAT Team (GVAT) as a Senior Data Engineer, delivering modern data integration solutions for a diverse client portfolio. This hands-on role involves client engagement, designing and implementing cloud-based solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure, and managing the full project lifecycle from discovery to support.
Responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with clients by understanding their business processes, systems and data integration requirements.
- Lead discovery workshops and technical discussions to gather requirements and translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions.
- Design, develop and maintain data integration solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Azure.
- Build secure REST API and SFTP integrations between internal applications and third-party platforms.
- Develop and support Microsoft Fabric Lakehouses, Warehouses, Dataflows and Data Pipelines.
- Design and implement ETL and ELT solutions that integrate data from SQL Server, APIs, CSV, Excel, JSON and XML sources.
- Collaborate with Data Architects, Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Project Managers and delivery teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Contribute to solution design, technical planning and implementation activities across multiple projects.
- Monitor production data solutions and investigate incidents using a structured root cause analysis approach.
- Implement improvements that enhance platform reliability, performance and maintainability.
Requirements
- Commercial experience in Data Engineering and Data Integration.
- Strong SQL and Python development skills.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience working with Microsoft Azure data services.
- Strong understanding of ETL and ELT design principles.
- Experience building REST API and secure SFTP integrations.
- Experience with Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure Data Factory.
- Experience integrating structured and semi-structured data sources.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage priorities and work across multiple client engagements.
