About the Role

We're seeking a proactive and skilled engineer to be an integral part of our San Francisco hardware team, contributing to the development of functionally safe sensing products.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, define, produce, and manage system-level requirements for functionally safe sensing products in compliance with standards like ISO 26262.
  • Develop and maintain critical safety work products, including the Safety Plan, HARA, Functional Safety Concepts (FSC), and Technical Safety Concepts (TSC).
  • Manage requirements, ensuring end-to-end traceability from system requirements to hardware/software implementation and verification test cases.
  • Leverage Python and AI tools to automate documentation generation, streamline verification processes, and create scripts for data analysis and reporting.
  • Manage system engineering artifacts and documentation within version control repositories such as Git.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with the complete lifecycle of a functionally safe sensing product.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to allocate requirements and ensure system-wide safety goal alignment.
  • Lead and contribute to system-level verification and validation (V&V) activities, defining test strategies and ensuring comprehensive coverage of all safety requirements.
  • Achieve ISO 26262 ASIL-B certification or an equivalent functional safety standard for a sensing product.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a systems engineering role.
  • At least 3 years directly involved in the development of functionally safe products.
  • Demonstrable, in-depth knowledge and hands-on application of ISO 26262, particularly Parts 3, 4, 5, and 6.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience using a dedicated requirements management tool, with a strong preference for Jama Connect.
  • Proven proficiency in Python for task automation, data processing, or verification scripting.
  • Experience using version control systems like Git for managing engineering work products and documentation.
  • Experience working across the full V-model development lifecycle, from concept definition to system validation and release.
