About the Role
We are seeking a Server to join our team, responsible for setting up the dining room, serving meals, and performing clean-up duties within our retirement residence. This role is crucial in ensuring mealtime is a positive social experience for our residents.
Responsibilities
- Serve meals to residents and guests professionally and courteously.
- Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as needed.
- Assist with cleaning dishware and cutlery after each dining service.
- Help maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area.
- Assist with catering and participate in special events and theme parties.
- Aid in the orientation and training of new culinary employees.
- Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and safe job procedures.
- Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures.
- Be aware of and respect Resident Rights & Responsibilities.
- Attend in-service training as required.
- Attend staff meetings to stay informed of changes within the Residence.
- Participate in the Quality Improvement Program.
- Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy, particularly regarding ethics, morality, and integrity as outlined in the Company’s Code of Conduct.
- Complete all other assigned tasks.
Requirements
- Previous experience in the food service industry is preferred.
- Previous experience working with seniors is preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items.
- Must be able to stand/walk for the majority of the shift.
- Proficiency in a second language is an asset.
- Must possess a current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS) or be willing to obtain one upon hire.
