About the Role

Edelman is seeking a Senior Account Executive (SAE) to join its U.S. Health team, focusing on integrated communications programs for a major global pharmaceutical client. This role involves supporting communications across respiratory and immunology, managing workstreams, creating materials, and acting as a client partner. The ideal candidate has strong writing, editing, and judgment skills, with a preference for healthcare or pharmaceutical communications experience, including clinical data, regulatory communications, or brand initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of assigned client workstreams, proactively managing timelines, deliverables, and internal review processes.
  • Develop and refine high-quality press releases, key messages, briefing materials, and communications supporting clinical data and brand milestones.
  • Lead assigned agenda items during client meetings, providing updates, and proactively identifying next steps or potential challenges.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to support integrated communications programs across respiratory and immunology.
  • Support strategic planning, executive visibility, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Manage materials through regulatory review and approval processes, including Veeva submissions, while maintaining accurate reporting and tracking.
  • Serve as a reliable day-to-day client contact for assigned projects, managing deliverables and ensuring alignment with client priorities.
  • Anticipate needs and proactively communicate progress, risks, and recommendations.
  • Lead portions of client meetings and confidently discuss project updates, deliverables, and next steps, with senior team support as needed.
  • Contribute to communications strategy, message development, and tactical recommendations that support client objectives.
  • Coordinate integrated program execution across multiple workstreams, managing timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Partner with creative, digital, media, and other internal teams to ensure consistent, high-quality execution.
  • Independently develop and refine press releases, key messages, executive briefings, stakeholder materials, and communications related to clinical or regulatory milestones.
  • Translate complex scientific and technical information into clear, accurate, and compelling narratives tailored to different audiences.
  • Review and incorporate feedback while maintaining a high standard of writing quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Coordinate the development, review, and submission of materials through client approval processes, including Veeva.
  • Proactively manage review timelines, revisions, and stakeholder feedback to keep deliverables on track.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, activity reports, and operational tracking across assigned workstreams.
  • Provide guidance and constructive feedback to junior colleagues, helping ensure the quality and consistency of deliverables.
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and sound judgment while managing competing priorities.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment, contributing ideas and supporting continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or pharmaceutical communications, ideally within an agency or in-house PR team.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with experience independently developing press releases, key messages, and client-facing materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client deliverables and multiple workstreams with limited supervision.
  • Experience communicating directly with clients, leading project discussions, and proactively identifying priorities or challenges.
  • Exposure to clinical data releases, regulatory milestones, pharmaceutical brand communications, or related initiatives.
