About the Role
The Restaurant Assistant Manager champions operational excellence across Saks Global Restaurants, playing a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional hospitality experience by leveraging team members' strengths, maintaining brand standards, and executing culinary and service initiatives. This role serves as the bridge between strategy and floor execution, ensuring guest satisfaction and business profitability.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the maintenance of premium quality, ambiance, and immaculate cleanliness across all dining rooms and kitchens.
- Enforces strict adherence to local Health and Safety standards and Saks Global policies.
- Drives the restaurant team to achieve and maintain a 90% score or better on seasonal secret shop reports and health sanitation evaluations.
- Manages inventory counts, processes batch invoices, assists with month-end forecasts, and reviews preliminary P&L reports.
- Maintains accurate administrative paperwork and POS reports; partners closely with the General Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef.
- Coordinates and supports special promotions, private bookings, and seasonal events.
- Oversees restaurant Associates in completing daily tasks, maintaining a high-energy and service-oriented floor presence.
- Mentors, coaches, and counsels direct reports while fostering a collaborative, "win together" team culture.
- Provides constructive feedback, handles conflict resolution, and administers disciplinary action for Associates.
- Works closely with People Business Partners on matters relevant to restaurant staff, including onboarding, training, payroll, and benefits.
- Communicates daily with the General Restaurant Manager and Executive Chef regarding scheduling, financial performance, events, and employee relations.
- Participates in weekly department manager meetings and relays relevant restaurant news to other business units.
- Cascades pertinent corporate updates, operational changes, and daily goals to the restaurant frontline staff.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of relevant restaurant management or hospitality leadership experience.
- Proven history of leading, motivating, and coaching diverse teams to achieve high-performance objectives.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to interface with corporate partners, culinary leaders, and guests.
- Highly motivated, results-driven, strong attention to detail, and exceptional problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Basic proficiency with MS Office Product Suite, Google Workspace, and modern POS/inventory systems.
- Role requires extended periods of standing, bending, climbing stairs, and the ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule based on luxury retail and hospitality business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
