About the Role
We are hiring our first product manager to work within the engineering team. This role involves owning a product area end-to-end, from concept to launch, and helping to shape the product function within the company. You will sit with engineering managers as a peer and run small teams of engineers, ensuring the right product is built.
Responsibilities
- Own a product area end-to-end from concept to launch.
- Run small teams of engineers with a focus area.
- Keep engineering teams on track and ensure the right thing is built.
- Help shape what the product function can do and how it fits within engineering and the company.
- Build a working prototype of an idea with an AI coding agent.
- Write down specs, product briefs, and the reasoning behind decisions.
- Talk to teachers, districts, customers, and internal teams to gather insights.
- Connect engineering to sales, customer success, support, and curriculum teams.
- Gather information from various departments, synthesize it, and inform product development.
Requirements
- Comfortable being technical, able to read a pull request and argue about a tradeoff.
- Able to ask a useful second question when an engineer raises an issue or blocker.
- Fluent with AI and adaptive to changing technologies.
- Experience prototyping with coding agents, running research and synthesis through them, and building tools.
- Able to describe a time an AI model was confidently wrong and you caught it.
- High agency; ability to make things exist if needed.
- Clear communicator, able to state the main point first and make it easy for others to reply.
