About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to help shape and build our platform. You will collaborate with business stakeholders to transform ideas into well-designed, reliable software, managing features from technical design through delivery and iteration. This is a technical leadership role within a small, growing team, focused on designing and writing code, establishing engineering best practices, and fostering team development. Your work will directly impact client operations in areas such as tenancy management, resident engagement, maintenance scheduling, and finance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and improve applications using React and TypeScript.
  • Develop accessible, maintainable front-end experiences using HTML and CSS.
  • Enhance front-end performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements shaping, technical design, implementation, testing, release, and iteration.
  • Provide realistic estimates and proactively communicate delivery risks.
  • Make pragmatic technical decisions to support the platform's long-term direction and growth.
  • Collaborate with backend service and architecture colleagues (Node.js, SQL, ASP.NET Core).
  • Integrate with APIs and contribute to end-to-end solution design using REST and GraphQL.
  • Document significant technical decisions for team reference.
  • Build and maintain a shared component library for consistent platform appearance and behavior.
  • Design integrations with payment, CRM, and accounting platforms for reusability.
  • Review code, promote good engineering practices, and maintain high quality standards.
  • Integrate automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline for routine and low-risk releases.
  • Ensure platform availability and lead technical response to front-end and application incidents.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and implement necessary fixes.
  • Apply secure coding practices, focusing on authentication, payments, and personal data.
  • Maintain client data separation and test this separation in every release.
  • Provide technical evidence for data protection and information security initiatives (GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Support the technical aspects of new client implementations, including configuration, integrations, and data migration.
  • Serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues.
  • Engage with site teams to understand platform usage and incorporate feedback into product development.
  • Share knowledge, provide technical guidance, and mentor other developers.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation for core modules.
  • Participate in hiring engineers, including technical interviews and onboarding.
  • Contribute to the growth of the engineering capability and team development.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience building production applications in React and TypeScript.
  • Working experience of .NET Core, Node.js, SQL Server, and API design using REST and GraphQL.
  • Experience leading technical design and reviewing other engineers’ code.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding other developers.
  • Exposure to PBSA, property management, or booking systems.
  • Experience with Next.js, TailwindCSS, or component design systems.
  • Knowledge of Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with payment integrations, CRM platforms, or accounting platforms.
  • Experience of multi-tenant SaaS, or working in an ISO 27001 or similar certified environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and act with startup agility.
  • Skill in clearly explaining technical choices to non-technical audiences.
