About the Role
JUNI is building the leading startup ecosystem for science-based spin-offs in Berlin-Brandenburg, connecting companies, startups, science, and politics to accelerate innovation. The core challenge is to develop the JUNI Startup & Scale-up Playbook, a practical operating model for supporting startups from founding to growth and scaling phases. The focus is on understanding what startups truly need at different stages and how JUNI can measurably contribute to their success, rather than just creating more programs.
Responsibilities
- Analyze successful international startup ecosystems, VCs, accelerators, incubators, and scale-up support models.
- Identify approaches and interventions that create real added value.
- Interview founders, investors, and experts, and systematically evaluate their experiences.
- Identify the key challenges and needs of startups in different development phases.
- Develop a pragmatic model for JUNI to diagnose these needs and offer appropriate support.
- Define the competencies JUNI needs to build internally and where to collaborate with partners or network strategically.
- Develop programs and support formats for early-stage startups, growth companies, and scale-ups.
- Develop a KPI and impact model to measure the added value of JUNI's work.
- Develop the JUNI Startup & Scale-up Playbook and subsequently pilot and implement it with the team.
Requirements
- Strategic thinking combined with genuine startup and venture experience.
- Experience in Venture Capital (Platform or Portfolio Operations), Accelerator or Incubator, Venture Building or Venture Studio, Startup or Scale-up, Deep Tech, Technology Transfer or science-based spin-offs, University Entrepreneurship, or Strategy/Consulting with a strong startup/VC focus.
- Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience.
- Direct work experience with startups, founders, or investors.
- Ability to analyze and structure complex contexts.
- Ability to identify patterns and best practices.
- Willingness to question existing assumptions.
- Ability to translate strategy into concrete, actionable solutions.
- Experience with Deep Tech, science-based startups, VC portfolio support, or scale-ups is a plus.
