About the Role

The Cook is responsible for preparing congregate meals for nine congregate meal programs across eight service locations in Manhattan and Bronx, reporting to the Lead Chef.

Responsibilities

Execute detailed assigned menus using ingredients as directed by the Lead Chef.
Prepare assigned meals in compliance with New York City Department of Health food safety regulations.
Wash and clean pots after prepping and cooking food.
Prepare and/or supervise the preparation of all primary recipe ingredients.
Uphold and ensure kitchen aids follow food safety/sanitization requirements.
Supervise weekend meal preparation and kitchen duties.
Communicate with the on-site manager regarding weekend issues and/or meal changes.
Participate in interdepartmental meetings to enhance program service delivery.
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

New York State Food Handlers Permit is required.
Minimum of two years in food preparation and cooking.
Ability to work independently and under time-constraint pressures.
Good supervisory skills.
Flexibility and ability to work with a diverse client population.
Good interpersonal skills and communication.
Available to work from 6am to 2pm and Saturdays.
