About the Role
Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences seeks a Professional Tutor to support students in the Center for Student Success. The Tutor will guide students in coursework, provide academic support, and integrate learning strategies to foster independent learning.
Responsibilities
- Complete an online training module prior to tutoring and stay informed about tutoring philosophies, policies, and procedures.
- Meet and work with students individually or in small groups.
- Provide content-based learning activities to enrich and support course content.
- Provide students with tools to assess their learning and study habits and make suggestions.
- Provide students with study skill suggestions and tools to become active learners.
- Provide academic support in all first and second-year undergraduate curriculum courses pertaining to their discipline.
- Meet with Instructors to discuss tutoring and student progress as needed.
- Meet with the Associate Director, Center for Student Success regularly, attend staff meetings and in-services as required.
- Serve as a resource for other tutors, including Peer Tutors, in the same discipline.
- Make referrals to campus services as needed.
- Maintain bi-weekly time sheets.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of the Center for Student Success.
